Walter Stauffer Academy - Cremona

His passion for the chamber music and his interest in helping young musicians pushed Salvatore Accardo in creating in Cremona together with Bruno Giuranna alto, Rocco Filippini cello and Franco Petracchi double bass a finishing school for strings: the Accademia Walter Stauffer,founded in 1986, where very talented young musicians are admitted for free and can develop their talents.

Orchestra da Camera Italiana

Ten year after creating the Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona, Salvatore Accardo founded a string orchestra with the best students and former students of the Stauffer Academy. The musicians of the Orchestra da Camera Italiana – unique case in the musical world – are all from the same school and achieve an uncommon unity of expressiveness, style and technique .

The Accardo Quartet

Created in 1992 the Accardo Quartet is today composed by: Salvatore Accardo – first violin Laura Gorna – second violin, studied in Milan Conservatorio and after graduation with Salvatore Accardo. She won the Vittorio Veneto Violin Competition, and made her debut when still very young in Milan’s Sala Verdi. She toured Europe and US and has been invited as soloist by many Italian Orchestras. Francesco Fiore – alto studied in Rome Santa Cecilia Conservatorio and after graduating with Bruno Giuranna. Winner of many competitions, is one of the most appreciated Italian altos and teaches in Cremona. Cecilia Radic – cello won in 1996 the Stradivari - Caruana Competition beginning immediately after an international career as soloist, chamber music player, first cello in orchestra with a very large repertoire.
